About Me
For 3 years I worked for a company where I drove in Atlanta traffic for 5 hours a day listening to talk radio. I decided it was time for a change. I did what every 27 year old having a mid-mid-life crisis might do and applied to graduate school for journalism. I traded my car and spacious apartment for a crowded subway and shoebox studio in New York City.
Here's to living the dream and lots of prayer.
Since beginning journalism at New York University I have had incredible opportunities to produce print and multimedia works. I produced audio stories, video packages, and other multimedia works. I learned to embrace high-pressure situations and tight deadlines.
I have written about local breaking news, politics, local events and tourism, as well as LGBTQ issues and religion. I was sent to Georgia to cover the governor's race, St. Louis to cover LGBTQ rights in the United Methodist Church, and D.C. to write about Justice Kavanaugh's hearing.
I moved to Washington, D.C. for a summer internship where I left a focus on local and national news to focus on foreign relations. I quickly learned a little about regions all over the world. I wrote a series of stories about Britain's new Prime Minister Boris Johnson, trade wars between the U.S. and China, conflicts in South Korea and Japan, and news concerning Turkey, Guatemala, Venezuela, India, and Russia.
After my summer stint in Washington, D.C. I was back in New York to complete my program. For my capstone, I worked with two members of my cohort and produced an audio piece on the New York bail reforms. I also reported on anti semitism in New York using the FBI's Hate Crime data. I learned how to understand, clean and visualize the data every reader can grasp the truth.
With the end of my program came a new job! I started at WNYW Fox 5 New York in January. Stay tuned for updates!
